Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic led to a 45.1% reduction in institutional deliveries, a 7.2 percentage point increase in high-risk pregnancies, and a 2.5-fold increase in pregnant women admitted to the intensive care unit. The study center managed 32 symptomatic pregnant women with positive COVID-19 tests, resulting in good maternal and fetal outcomes.

Cancer screening in the US through the COVID-19 pandemic, recovery, and beyond

Jennifer M. Croswell et al.

Summary: The disruption caused by COVID-19 to cancer screening has highlighted the need to prioritize those who have never been screened or are significantly out of date with screenings. This challenging period could also be an opportunity to reassess early detection programs towards a more explicit, thoughtful, and just prioritization for populations historically experiencing cancer disparities. By careful planning and focusing on populations with the most to gain, we can positively impact cancer outcomes for all in the future.
