Insights to helminth infections in food and companion animals in Bangladesh: Occurrence and risk profiling

Tilak Chandra Nath et al.

Summary: This study investigated the parasitic infections in common animals in Bangladesh and assessed the knowledge and understanding of parasite disease management among animal owners. The results showed that various types of parasites are prevalent in animals of Bangladesh, posing a potential risk to human health. However, despite the good understanding of parasite infections among animal owners, this knowledge was not being translated into practice.

Worldwide continuous gap-filled MODIS land surface temperature dataset

Shilo Shiff et al.

Summary: Combining satellite land surface temperature (LST) with the Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2) modeled temperatures, this study derived a continuous gap filled global LST dataset at a spatial resolution of 1 km. By using temporal Fourier analysis to derive the seasonality of LST and CFSv2 temperatures, gaps were filled by adding CFSv2 temperature anomaly to climatological LST. The provided dataset was evaluated in nine regions globally with high accuracy metrics.

Infection dynamics and persistence of hepatitis E virus on pig farms - a review

M. Meester et al.

Summary: HEV genotype 3 and 4 is a zoonosis that causes hepatitis in humans, mainly transmitted through consumption of pork or contact with pigs. While the virus is present on most pig farms, the proportion of infected pigs at slaughter varies between farms and countries. Understanding the factors that contribute to this difference is crucial for implementing effective measures to reduce HEV in pigs at slaughter.

Hepatitis E in Bangladesh: Insights From a National Serosurvey

Andrew S. Azman et al.

Summary: Hepatitis E infections are common throughout Bangladesh, with a national seroprevalence of 20%. Seropositivity increases with age and male sex, and urban areas, including Dhaka, have significantly higher seroprevalence compared to other regions. Strengthening surveillance for hepatitis E, especially in urban areas, can help target interventions effectively.
