Organic compound and particle emissions of additive manufacturing with photopolymer resins and chemical outgassing of manufactured resin products

Summary: The study aimed to measure the concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbonyl compounds, ultrafine particles (UFPs), and particulate matter (PM10) emitted during 3D printer operations. It was found that 3D printer operators are exposed to low concentrations of hazardous emissions, and resin products should be stored for 4 weeks to reduce potential VOC hazards for consumers.

Exploring Methods for Surveillance of Occupational Exposure from Additive Manufacturing in Four Different Industrial Facilities

Summary: This study evaluated the exposure assessment methods in additive manufacturing environments and measured exposure and emissions from four different printing methods. The use of structured exposure diaries in combination with measurement data showed that little time is spent on actual printing and the main exposure comes from post-processing tasks. Instruments that log for a longer period are helpful in identifying high emission work tasks and providing a more comprehensive view of exposure variations.
