Rutin-stevioside and related conjugates for potential control of grapevine trunk diseases

Laura Buzon-Duran et al.

Summary: Rutin, a major flavonoid in grapevines, showed increased bioavailability and synergistic effects against Botryosphaeriaceae taxa when conjugated with stevioside. The conjugation enhanced the solubility of rutin and exhibited stronger antifungal effects compared to ferulic acid, making it a promising candidate for the control of grapevine trunk diseases.

Synthesis of silver nanoparticles using gum Arabic: Evaluation of its inhibitory action on Streptococcus mutans causing dental caries and endocarditis

Mysoon M. Al-Ansari et al.

Summary: The study synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using gum Arabic as a capping agent and investigated their biophysical characteristics and antibacterial activity against the oral pathogen Streptococcus mutans. Results showed that the synthesized AgNPs exhibited good antibacterial action and inhibited genes responsible for biofilm formation, paving the way for novel dental care products. The small size of the nanoparticles also promotes their potential applicability in COVID-19 pandemic containment.

Gum Acacia Functionalized Colloidal Gold Nanoparticles of Letrozole as Biocompatible Drug Delivery Carrier for Treatment of Breast Cancer

Hibah M. Aldawsari et al.

Summary: This study reported the synthesis and characterization of GA stabilized gold nanoparticles (GA-AuNPs) of LTZ for breast cancer treatment. The biologically synthesized LTZ @ GA-AuNPs demonstrated dose-dependent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cell line. Hemolytic properties of the LTZ @ GA-AuNPs showed no interaction with blood components. The findings suggest that LTZ @ GA-AuNPs could be a promising drug delivery carrier for treating breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

A novel, eco-friendly multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized copper metal-organic framework for ultrasensitive potentiometric detection of cadmium ions

Sima Singh et al.

Summary: A simple and on-site detection technique for Cd2+ using an electrochemical sensor based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes and copper metal-organic framework was synthesized via one-pot hydrothermal reaction. The sensor showed excellent selectivity, stability, and repeatability, with a detection limit of 0.275 nM and linear calibration curves from 0.2 to 10 μM. The well-designed sensor demonstrated promising potential for on-site monitoring of Cd2+ in tap water.
