Experimental Study on the Ballistic Resistance of S-shaped CFRP Foldcore Sandwich Structure against Flat-Nosed Projectile Impacts

Yunfei Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the high-velocity impact resistance of an S-shaped carbon-fiber foldcore sandwich structure through experimental methods. The results show that the ballistic limit velocity is higher at the node position compared to the base position. Increasing projectile velocity leads to an increase in energy consumption but a decrease in energy absorption rate. The sandwich panel experiences mass loss and different damage modes depending on the impact velocity.

Dynamic Crushing of Gradient Auxetic Honeycombs

Junhua Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents four types of new gradient honeycombs with negative Poisson's ratio, obtained by changing the geometric or physical parameters of cells. The research results show that the thickness of cell walls significantly affects the impact resistance and vibration energy absorption of honeycomb structures, with the angle gradient honeycomb exhibiting better energy absorption.

Mechanical characterization and numerical modeling of laser-sintered TPE lattice structures

Christina Kummert et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical properties of various lattice structures made of TPE, focusing on the effects of cell type, cell size, and strut thickness. Through a combination of experimental and numerical methods, the time and costs for determining the producibility and performance of TPE lattice structures can be effectively reduced.
