Dietary supplementation with an acidifier blend (citric, lactic, and phosphoric acids) influences growth, digestive enzymes, and blood chemistry of juvenile Japanese sea-bass (Lateolabrax japonicus)

Zhangfan Huang et al.

Summary: The experiment demonstrated that dietary supplementation with 2 and 4 g/kg AB significantly improved the growth, digestion, antioxidant capacity, and non-specific immunity of juvenile Japanese sea-bass. Optimal levels of AB supplementation for various parameters were determined to be 2.90, 2.89, 3.38, 3.77, 3.24, and 3.36 g/kg, respectively.

The role of short-chain fatty acids in immunity, inflammation and metabolism

Yao Yao et al.

Summary: Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are important metabolites of gut microbiome and play a vital role in host health. They are key energy sources for colon and ileum cells, regulate intestinal epithelial barrier and defense functions, modulate the function of innate immune cells, regulate the differentiation of T cells and B cells, and also inhibit tumor cell proliferation and promote apoptosis.

Effects of dietary potassium diformate on growth performance, fillet quality, plasma indices, intestinal morphology and liver health of juvenile golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus)

Pengwei Xun et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of potassium diformate (KDF) on the growth, fillet quality, plasma indices, immune response, and intestinal morphology of juvenile Trachinotus ovatus. The results showed that an appropriate supplementation of KDF promoted growth performance, improved fillet quality and intestinal morphology, and enhanced immune response in T. ovatus.

Effects of dietary compound acidifiers supplementation on growth performance and intestinal health of juvenile American eels (Anguilla rostrata) cultured in cement tanks

Mingliang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study showed that dietary supplementation of 4 g/kg compound acidifiers (CAs) significantly improved the growth performance and intestinal health of juvenile American eels cultured in cement tanks. This supplementation increased final fish weight, specific growth rate, protease activity in the intestine, villi length and thickness of the intestinal muscular layer, as well as the richness and diversity of intestinal microbiota.

Metabolic changes, antioxidant status, immune response and resistance to ammonia stress in juvenile yellow catfish (Pelteobagrus fulvidraco) fed diet supplemented with sodium butyrate

Hongxia Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that dietary sodium butyrate can significantly increase the weight gain rate and reduce mortality in juvenile yellow catfish; sodium butyrate can to some extent reduce serum metabolic parameters after ammonia stress and promote intestinal antioxidant enzyme activity.
