Summary: In this study, an Integrated Taguchi method-assisted polynomial Metamodelling & Genetic Algorithm (ITM&GA)-based optimisation technique is used to optimize the design of a surface inset permanent magnet synchronous motor (SIPMSM) for electric compressors in electric vehicles (EVs). The combination of polynomial metamodels and genetic algorithms allows for quick and accurate determination of optimal design parameters, resulting in improved torque performance and reduced ripples in torque and cogging torque. This proposed mechanism is effective in obtaining quick and accurate solutions for preliminary designs of SIPMSMs for EV applications.
