Summary: This study aimed to biosynthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles using aqueous leaf extract from the plant Sphagneticola trilobata L. The nanoparticles showed potential antioxidant and genotoxic properties, and exhibited cytotoxicity against HT-29 colon cancer cells while having no significant effect on human erythrocytes. Further in vivo investigations are needed to explore their interaction with cells and potential therapeutic applications.

The synthesized nanoparticles also demonstrated excellent biocompatibility and photocatalytic activity towards degrading methylene blue dye.

Fabrication of green ZnO nanoparticles using walnut leaf extract to develop an antibacterial film based on polyethylene-starch-ZnO NPs

The synthesis process was optimized using response surface methodology, resulting in ZnO NPs with superior performance.
