Satisfactory outcome with low activated clotting time in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

Jeong In Hong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of a lower target ACT during ECMO on safety and outcomes, finding that it did not increase the thromboembolic risk compared to a conventional ACT target. Clinicians may consider using a lower ACT target for anticoagulation in some patients with careful assessment and close monitoring. Further prospective trials are needed to validate these results.
