Multi-criteria decision analysis without consistency in pairwise comparisons

Silvia Carpitella et al.

Summary: Life presents various situations where making the right decision requires compromises based on different criteria. Existing decision-making methods often fail to handle inconsistent preferences properly. In this study, we propose a novel framework that addresses this issue without forcing experts to change their initial judgments.

Scramjet Performance Computed for a JP-7-Fueled Generic X-51 Vehicle

Yunseok Choi et al.

Summary: This study used the MASIV reduced-order model to compute ways to improve the performance of a dual-mode scramjet engine within a generic X-51 hypersonic vehicle. Two new aspects were added, including the finite-rate chemistry of a hydrocarbon fuel and quantifying tradeoffs due to the short vehicle length. Varying parameters such as fuel-air equivalence ratio, Mach number, fuel injector diameter, and number of fuel injectors, results showed the effect of fuel injector size on the operating ranges of ram and scram modes. The study highlights the importance of considering the mixing-reaction-strain tradeoff in the design process and proposes a solution using different sizes of wall injectors.

Design exploration on the mixing augmentation induced by the oblique shock wave and a novel step in a supersonic flow

Wei Huang et al.

Summary: A novel mixing enhancement scheme combining oblique shock wave and step has been proposed to promote the mixing process between supersonic airflow and fuel. Experimental results show that this scheme can effectively prolong the residence time of hydrogen in the flow and enhance the mixing effect between fuel and air.

Effects of cavity-induced mixing enhancement under oblique shock wave interference: Numerical study

Zuo Qiuru et al.

Summary: This research numerically investigates the effects of oblique shock on mixing characteristics in a supersonic combustor equipped with a cavity, finding that oblique shock wave can enhance mixing efficiency within a certain range, with the optimal angle decreasing as the jet-to-crossflow pressure ratio increases.
