Phosphorus Forms under Crop Residue Retention and Phosphorus Fertilization in Maize-Wheat Rotation

Chiranjeev Kumawat et al.

Summary: The results of the study demonstrate that surface retention of crop residue combined with phosphorus fertilization can enhance soil phosphorus fertility by increasing Olsen-P and organic phosphorus content. Additionally, the application of phosphorus fertilizer along with P solubilizing bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi further improves soil phosphorus fertility.

Sequential Phosphorus Fractionation to Understand the Fate of Phosphorus Fertilizer in Sandy Ultisol, Amended with Biochar and Coal Fly Ash

Nadeesha Ukwattage et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of biochar and coal fly ash amendments as soil amendments on the retention efficiency of soluble phosphorus fertilizer in Ultisols. The results showed that these amendments reduced the leachable phosphorus fractions in soil through various retention and fixation pathways, thereby reducing phosphorus leaching loss.

Indicative Value of the Dominant Plant Species for a Rapid Evaluation of the Nutritional Value of Soils

Ana Cano-Ortiz et al.

Summary: This study conducted research on 14 grassland communities located in the south of the Iberian Peninsula and their edaphology, which is identified as specific plant associations. The integration of edaphic and phytosociological study provides a valuable tool for obtaining quick information on the content of nutrients in the soil.

Application of residue, inorganic fertilizer and lime affect phosphorus solubilizing microorganisms and microbial biomass under different tillage and cropping systems in a Ferralsol

Peter Bolo et al.

Summary: The study found that reduced tillage significantly increased microbial biomass phosphorus (MBP) and abundance of different PSMs, while residue addition also significantly increased MBP and PSMs abundance. However, the effect of liming on PSMs abundance was inconsistent between the two years of the study. Fertilizer addition had a significant impact on PSMs abundance in 2016, but this effect was inconsistent in 2017. Additionally, the study showed that different tillage and cropping systems can have variable effects on soil microbial populations.

Interactions between cover crops and soil microorganisms increase phosphorus availability in conservation agriculture

Moritz Hallama et al.

Summary: Cover crops were able to increase microbially mediated internal phosphorus cycling in this experiment, while the effects of no-till on organic P cycling were weaker and did not show synergy with cover crops.

Long-term conservation agriculture and best nutrient management improves productivity and profitability coupled with soil properties of a maize-chickpea rotation

Vijay Pooniya et al.

Summary: The study indicates that CA-based practices (ZTFB and PNB) can lead to higher yields and net returns in maize-chickpea rotation, while decreasing soil bulk density; application of NE and RDF can also increase crop yields and farm profits, while enhancing microbial biomass carbon in the soil.
