Summary: In recent years, numerous eco-district and eco-city projects have been implemented globally, serving as experiments and sites of innovation. The key models proposed are sustainable urban districts and data-driven smart eco-cities, which aim to achieve sustainability through compact and ecological design strategies. This study highlights the importance of integrating density, mixed land use, greening, and low-energy buildings in eco-districts, the potential of urban computing and intelligence in transforming the spatial scaling of smart eco-cities, and the advantages of data-driven approaches in evaluating sustainable urban district development. The findings suggest that data-driven smart planning and evaluation hold great potential for achieving sustainability goals through the use of big data technologies.
