The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for a balance between valorization and protection, as overtourism becomes a concern. Better marketing and professional geo-education can contribute to raising awareness and regional value.

Summary: Calciferous tufa and sinter are important natural spectacles in karst landscapes, with the Swabian Alb UNESCO Global Geopark in Southwest Germany being a crucial part of their geological heritage. Unfortunately, these landforms, especially tufa cascades, are significantly impaired by overtourism, particularly during the Corona pandemic.
