Questionnaire-Based Survey on Epidemiology of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders and Current Status of Gastrointestinal Motility Testing in Asian Countries

Takeshi Kamiya et al.

Summary: The survey reveals the epidemiology of functional gastrointestinal disorders and the current status of gastrointestinal motility testing in some East and Southeast Asian countries. The prevalence rates of functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome are relatively similar in these countries, with upper endoscopy and Helicobacter pylori tests commonly used for diagnosis. The frequency of gastrointestinal motility testing to examine gastric emptying and colonic transit time varies among Asian countries.
