Microscopic shell-model description of strongly deformed nuclei: 158Gd

H. G. Ganev

Summary: This study applies a microscopic version of the Bohr-Mottelson collective model (PLASM) to describe the low-lying collective excitations in Gd-158 nucleus. Through the shell-model approach, detailed results of excitation levels, probability distributions, and quadrupole collectivity are obtained, achieving a good overall description.

Matrix elements in the SU(1,1) ⊗ SO(6) limit of the proton-neutron symplectic model

H. G. Ganev

Summary: The matrix elements along the reduction chain of Sp(12,R) superset of various groups in the proton-neutron symplectic model are considered, with closed analytical expressions obtained for the basic building blocks and Sp(12,R) symplectic generators. This computational technique provides necessary algebraic tools for realistic symplectic-based shell-model calculations of nuclear collective excitations, as demonstrated through two simple examples.

Microscopic shell-model counterpart of the Bohr-Mottelson model

H. G. Ganev

Summary: This paper demonstrates the existence of a fully microscopic shell-model counterpart of the Bohr-Mottelson model by embedding the latter in the microscopic shell-model theory of atomic nucleus within the recently proposed fully microscopic proton-neutron symplectic model. The configuration space of the symplectic bandhead in the PNSM contains a six-dimensional subspace related to the Bohr-Mottelson model, with dynamics splitting into radial and orbital motions. The dynamics of the generalized Bohr-Mottelson model in the current approach is governed by the microscopic shell-model intrinsic structure of the symplectic bandhead, defining relevant SO(6) and SU(3) subrepresentations.
