A Fractal Permeability Model of Tight Oil Reservoirs Considering the Effects of Multiple Factors

Zhongwei Wu et al.

Summary: The prediction and evaluation of permeability in tight oil reservoirs are crucial for extracting tight oil resources. This study proposes a fractal permeability model based on fractal geometry theory, the Hagen-Poiseuille equation, and Darcy's formula. The model incorporates factors such as slip length, porous size distribution, stress sensitivity, irreducible water, and pore wall effect. Experimental validation and sensitivity analysis demonstrate that a decrease in fractal dimension or an increase in slip length leads to an increase in permeability, while a complex flow channel and high stress decrease permeability.

A fractal-based approach to evaluate the effect of microstructure on the permeability of two-dimensional porous media

Yuxuan Xia et al.

Summary: The study reconstructs two-dimensional porous media with different heterogeneous structures using fractal dimension and lacunarity to quantify complex microstructure relationships. Results show that under specific porosity, fractal dimension increases with reduced lacunarity, while permeability exhibits a strong power law relationship with porosity under the same heterogeneity.

Permeability and thermal conductivity models of shale matrix with a bundle of tortuous fractal tree-like branching micropore networks

Bowen Hu et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the permeability and thermal conductivity of shale matrix with a bundle of tortuous fractal tree-like micropore networks. New models are developed to accurately predict gas transport and heat transfer in such complex pore structures, with the permeability model showing higher accuracy compared to traditional models. Various parameters such as tortuosity fractal dimension, radius fractal dimension, length ratio, and radius ratio have significant impacts on permeability and thermal conductivity, while branching angle is found to have an insignificant effect on these properties.
