The Comparative Study of Reaction Mechanisms and Catalytic Performances of Cu-SSZ-13 and Fe-SSZ-13 for the NH3-SCR Reaction

Kaiwei Qin et al.

Summary: The catalytic performances and mechanism differences of model catalysts Cu-SSZ-13 and Fe-SSZ-13 were compared in this study. Cu-SSZ-13 showed good catalytic activity and hydrothermal stability at low temperature, while Fe-SSZ-13 showed better activity at high temperature and resistance to sulfur poisoning. The active species and reaction mechanisms of Cu-SSZ-13 and Fe-SSZ-13 also exhibited differences.

Understanding the roles of copper dopant and oxygen vacancy in promoting nitrogen oxides removal over iron-based catalyst surface: A collaborative experimental and first-principles study

Chaoyue Xie et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel strategy of Cu doping was proposed to enhance the NOx removal efficiency of Fe-based catalysts at low temperature. Cu doping significantly improves the deNO(x) performance of Fe-based catalysts below 200 degrees C, with the optimal catalyst being (Cu0.22Fe1.78)Oδ(3), achieving a deNO(x) efficiency of 100% at 160-240 degrees C. The excellent catalytic activity of the (Cu0.22Fe1.78)Oδ(3) catalyst is attributed to the large number of oxygen vacancies, appropriate Fe3+ and Cu2+ contents, stronger surface acidity, and redox ability. Microscopically, oxygen vacancies play a key role in enhancing molecular adsorption, oxidation, and the deNO(x) reaction over the Fe-based catalyst surface.

Microkinetic study of NO oxidation, standard and fast NH3-SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures

Kuo Liu et al.

Summary: A comprehensive microkinetic model was established for NO oxidation, standard SCR and fast SCR on CeWOx at low temperatures, revealing different rate-limiting steps and reaction orders for different reactions. The mechanisms of standard and fast SCR were found to be similar, with the reaction between nitrites and adsorbed NH3 playing a key role in NOx conversion. The activation energy of fast SCR was higher due to the reaction between NO and NH4NO3, but more nitrites and NH4NO3 led to higher activity for fast SCR compared to standard SCR.

Mechanism of NH3-Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) of NO/NO2 (Fast SCR) over Cu-CHA Zeolites Studied by In Situ/Operando Infrared Spectroscopy and Density Functional Theory

Chong Liu et al.

Summary: Combining experimental and computational methods, it was found that the Brønsted acid sites on Cu-CHA zeolites play a more important role than Cu sites in promoting the fast selective catalytic reduction of NO/NO2 mixture by NH3. The dual-site catalytic mechanism involving Cu-II sites and Brønsted acid sites was verified by in situ/operando infrared spectroscopy, kinetics, and density functional theory calculations.

Two steps synthesis of CeTiOx oxides nanotube catalyst: Enhanced activity, resistance of SO2 and H2O for low temperature NH3-SCR of NOx

Zhiping Zhang et al.

Summary: CeTiOx-T with nanotube structure exhibits excellent catalytic activity, SO2 and H2O tolerance, and stability in NH3-SCR reaction. The strong interaction between Ce and Ti leads to short-range ordered Ce-O-Ti species, resulting in a larger BET surface area and higher NH3-SCR performance than traditional catalysts. In situ DRIFTS results suggest different reaction mechanisms at low and high temperatures over CeTiOx-T.

High Temperature SCR Over Cu-SSZ-13 and Cu-SSZ-13+Fe-SSZ-13: Activity of Cu2+ and [CuOH]1+ Sites and the Apparent Promoting Effect of Adding Fe into Cu-SSZ-13 Catalyst

Juan M. Gonzalez et al.

Summary: Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts were synthesized with different Si: Al ratios to obtain materials with isolated Cu2+ and [CuOH](1+) sites, showing different activities in SCR, NO oxidation, and NH3 oxidation. The presence of Fe-SSZ-13 together with Cu-SSZ-13 did not actually improve the high temperature SCR, as indicated by higher reaction rates for NO oxidation and NH3 oxidation.

Fluorescent Nanoscale Covalent Organic Frameworks with the Theoretically Matched Redox Potential of Fe3+/Fe2+ for Monitoring of Adenosine-5′-Triphosphate in Cells

Caiping Ding et al.

Summary: By studying the energy band structure of NCOF and its matching with the redox potential of Fe3+/Fe2+, a fluorescent probe based on NCOF was successfully designed for sensing Fe3+ and ATP in cells, achieving ultralow detection limits and a broad linear response range. The excellent fluorescence properties and good biocompatibility of NCOF allowed for sensitive imaging of Fe3+ and real-time monitoring of ATP in cells, showing promising potential for the development of fluorescent nanoprobes in biosensor and bioimaging applications.

Revealing the effect of paired redox-acid sites on metal oxide catalysts for efficient NOx removal by NH3-SCR

Wei Tan et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the NH3-SCR activity of Nb2O5-CeO2 and WO3-CeO2 catalysts depends significantly on the strong interaction between the redox component (CeO2) and acidic component (Nb2O5 or WO3), as well as the presence of paired redox-acid sites. At lower temperatures (200 degrees Celsius), NH3-SCR activity is primarily influenced by the surface acidity of the catalysts, while at higher NOx conversion rates, the activity is more determined by the redox properties.

Influence of CS2 pretreatment on the NH3-SCR activity of CeO2: Synergistic promotional effect of sulfation and reduction

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of CS2 and COS gas phase sulfation pretreatment on the NH3-SCR performance of CeO2, compared with SO2. The results showed that CS2 had a stronger promotional effect on the NH3-SCR performance due to its higher reducibility, leading to more surface defects and more sulfate species formation on CeO2. The research suggests a new strategy for designing novel CeO2-based NH3-SCR catalysts.
