Transient Solid-State Laser Activation of Indium for High-Performance Reduction of CO2 to Formate

Summary: The limited understanding of the local environment of active sites and synthetic skills hinder the delivery of industrially-relevant current densities with low overpotentials and high selectivity for CO2 reduction. This study presents a method using transient laser induction of metal salts to produce defect-rich indium nanoparticles (L-In) with extreme conditions and rapid kinetics. These L-In nanoparticles exhibit a small onset overpotential and high current density in a flow cell, with a formate Faradaic efficiency of 98%. The formation rate of formate is significantly higher than previous results, outperforming commercial indium. This study suggests that transient solid-state laser induction provides a facile and cost-effective approach to tailor the activity of ligand-free and defect-rich materials.

PtCu@Ir-PCN-222: Synergistic Catalysis of Bimetallic PtCu Nanowires in Hydrosilane-Concentrated Interspaces of an Iridium(III)-Porphyrin-Based Metal-Organic Framework

Efficient Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Ethane over Nitrogen-Doped Fe2O3

Precise fabrication of single-atom alloy co-catalyst with optimal charge state for enhanced photocatalysis
