Kinetic Study of the Interdiffusion of Fluorine and Oxygen in the Perovskite-Type Barium Ferrate System BaFeO2.5-xF2x

Stephan Wollstadt et al.

Summary: In this study, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to monitor the interdiffusion process of oxide and fluoride ions in a model system. By analyzing the time-dependent isothermal changes of phase fractions, the activation energy for the interdiffusion reaction was calculated and the formation process of BaFeO2.333F0.333 was characterized as diffusion-controlled with crystallization starting at grain boundaries.

Chemically induced local lattice distortions versus structural phase transformations in compositionally complex alloys

Yuji Ikeda et al.

Summary: Recent experiments have shown that the chemical composition of body-centered cubic (bcc) refractory high entropy alloys (HEAs) can be adjusted to enhance transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP), leading to improved ductility. A method utilizing symmetry analysis and ab initio calculations has been developed to identify the impact of local lattice distortions on the phase stability of HEAs.

Structural, Magnetic and Catalytic Properties of a New Vacancy Ordered Perovskite Type Barium Cobaltate BaCoO2.67

Aamir Iqbal Waidha et al.

Summary: A new anion-deficient perovskite material with unique oxygen vacancy ordering has been synthesized through a two-step heating process, showing G-type antiferromagnetic ordering confirmed by neutron powder diffraction, magnetic measurements, and DFT studies. The compound exhibits a high electronic conductivity and remarkable bifunctional catalytic activity, comparable to that of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-y, making it a promising candidate for efficient catalysts in oxygen-related reactions.

Finite-temperature interplay of structural stability, chemical complexity, and elastic properties of bcc multicomponent alloys from ab initio trained machine-learning potentials

Konstantin Gubaev et al.

Summary: An active learning approach is used to train machine-learning interatomic potentials for multicomponent alloys, showing a strong interplay between elastic properties and structural phase stability that significantly affects mechanical properties. Systematic screening of composition space is conducted to identify regions with little or no temperature dependence in elastic constants (elinvar effect).
