Spatial Confinement Tunes Cleavage and Re-Formation of C=N Bonds in Fluorescent Molecules

Keyan Liu et al.

Summary: Molecules in confined spaces exhibit unique behaviors that can provide alternative strategies for exploring new reaction pathways. By using spatial confinement within a cationic micelle system, the irreversible cleavage of the C=N bond of Nile red was converted into a reversible process, with the fluorescence shifting between red and green. This new chemical pathway based on spatial confinement is attributed to increasing the local concentration of reactants and reducing the reaction energy barrier.

Donor-conformation-dependent energy transfer for dual-color fluorescent probe with high-resolution imaging

Lifang Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel concept of constructing a cassette based on Vibration-Induced Emission (VIE) and Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) was introduced. By utilizing a VIE donor with dual emission bands and linking it with a acceptor like Cy5, a high-resolution dual-color fluorescent imaging platform was developed. The VIE-FRET technology showed excellent spectral difference and ultra-large pseudo-Stokes shift, allowing clear and intuitive visualization of different viscosity regions in vivo.

Ultrabright Fluorescent Polymeric Nanofibers and Coatings Based on Ionic Dye Insulation with Bulky Counterions

Anila Hoskere Ashoka et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the preparation of ultrabright fluorescent polymeric nanofibers and coatings by overcoming the ACQ problem with the concept of ionic dye insulation using bulky hydrophobic counterions. This approach increases fluorescence quantum yields of cationic dyes and leads to polymeric materials with improved brightness and stability against dye leakage.
