The effect of emergency manuals on team performance during two different simulated perioperative crises: A prospective, randomized controlled trial

Summary: Providing an emergency manual (EM) did not have a significant impact on team performance in diagnosing, treating, fluid resuscitation, communication, and teamwork in managing perioperative crises. Suggestions regarding improved cardiac arrest resuscitation with EM availability should be interpreted cautiously due to limited sample size. About half of the teams used the EM to some extent, with most using it relatively late in the crisis.

Tools for Assessing the Performance of Pediatric Perioperative Teams During Simulated Crises: A Psychometric Analysis of Clinician Raters' Scores

Summary: The clinicians trained in this study were able to use the technical performance assessment tools with reliable results that correlated well with reference scores. There was more variability between the raters' scores and less correlation with the reference standard when the raters used the nontechnical assessment tools. The global rating scale used in this study was able to measure the performance of teams across a variety of scenarios and may be generalizable for assessing teams in other clinical scenarios. The Team Emergency Assessment Measure tool demonstrated reliable measures when used to assess interprofessional perioperative teams in this study.

Effect of a Mobile App on Prehospital Medication Errors During Simulated Pediatric Resuscitation A Randomized Clinical Trial

The app significantly decreased medication errors and time to drug delivery, highlighting its potential to improve medication safety in emergency medicine.

Summary: This study found that surgical coaching of qualified surgeons' NTS in a group setting was effective. Although coaching of individual surgeons revealed an overall positive learner perception, it did not show an objective improvement in NTS for qualified surgeons.
