Enhanced thermal conductivity and wear resistance of polytetrafluoroethylene via incorporating hexagonal boron nitride and alumina particles

Hong Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and alumina particles (AO) are added to PTFE to improve its thermal conductivity while minimizing the loss in friction properties. The optimized filler ratio of 2:1 between h-BN and alumina significantly enhances the thermal conductivity of PTFE composites, while maintaining excellent dielectric and friction properties.

Investigation of the way to enhance the synergistic effect between polyimide and graphene on the tribological performance of polytetrafluoroethylene composites

Xiaoxing Niu et al.

Summary: This article explores the synergistic effect of polyimide and graphene on the friction and wear of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composites using two different preparation methods. The results show that incorporating graphene into polyimide first enhances the wear resistance, while blending graphene and PTFE first has a less significant effect. Graphene fillers are not easily washed away by the plastic flow of PTFE resin and accumulate on the wear surface, leading to better synergistic effect.

Synergy of core-shell Cu@rGO hybrids for significantly improved thermal and tribological properties of polyimide composites

Guorong He et al.

Summary: A facile electrostatic self-assembly method was used to prepare Cu nanoparticles @ rGO nanosheets, improving the performance of PI composites through enhanced interface compatibility, increased thermal decomposition temperature, and improved lubrication properties. Furthermore, the Cu@rGO hybrids were found to reduce specific wear rate and average friction coefficient for PI composites.

Thermal behavior of N-Methylaniline modified phenolic friction composites

Yusubov Fikrat Fakhraddin

Summary: This article discusses the thermal stability, decomposition properties, and degradation of organic components of friction composite materials fabricated by powder metallurgy techniques. It was found that N-Methylaniline modified phenolic resin used as a binder material, with a degradation temperature of 312-362 degrees Celsius, and that barite and copper-graphite particles can improve the thermal characteristics of the samples.

The mechanisms behind the tribological behaviour of polymer matrix composites reinforced with TiO2 nanoparticles

Wen Hao Kan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the sliding wear behavior of hybrid polymer nanocomposites under different loading conditions and counterface roughness. The synergistic effect between nanoparticles and micro-sized fillers on friction and wear performance depended on the tribological system involved. TiO2 nanoparticles are only beneficial when blended with other wear debris to reduce friction and wear.
