Chicxulub impact tsunami megaripples in the subsurface of Louisiana: Imaged in petroleum industry seismic data

Gary L. Kinsland et al.

Summary: Large-scale megaripples have been observed near the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary deposit, believed to be caused by a tsunami resulting from a large asteroid impact around 66 million years ago. These features are preserved due to their formation below storm wave base and subsequent burial by Paleogene deep water shales.

Latitude Variation of Flux and Impact Angle of Asteroid Collisions with Earth and the Moon

Darrel Robertson et al.

Summary: The study calculates that the flux of asteroid impacts to the poles on Earth is 22% greater than at the equator, and 55% greater for the Moon. The impact angles vary, with shallower angles near the equator and steeper angles near the poles.
