I. Indices of Pain Intensity Derived From Ecological Momentary Assessments: Rationale and Stakeholder Preferences

Arthur A. Stone et al.

Summary: Pain assessment is essential for chronic pain research and management, and considering additional outcome measures capturing temporal aspects of pain can enhance pain assessment. Different stakeholders have distinct preferences for additional pain indices, with patients favoring Worst Pain and Time in High Pain. Multiple temporal aspects of pain intensity are important to stakeholders and should be considered in evaluating the efficacy of pain management.
