Designing of two dimensional lanthanum cobalt hydroxide engineered high performance supercapacitor for longer stability under redox active electrolyte

Deepa B. Bailmare et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of rare earth elements on the stability of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) in redox active electrolyte supercapacitors. The choice of rare earth element (such as lanthanum) is found to have a significant impact on the stability of La-Co LDHs electrode in redox electrolyte. This highlights the importance of considering rare earth elements in the design of LDH systems for redox active supercapacitor development.

Xuanli Liu et al.

Summary: This article emphasizes the importance of avoiding gas evolution in aqueous supercapacitors for safety reasons and introduces the use of high-resolution scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) to study the hydrogen evolution side reaction during the charge process. By conducting experiments with functionalized and non-functionalized CNTs, the authors demonstrate the impact of different electrode materials on supercapacitor behavior and apply SECM to investigate local reactivity and conductivity of CNT samples.

Enhanced electrochemical performance of flexible asymmetric supercapacitor based on novel nanostructured activated fullerene anchored zinc cobaltite

Ritik Mohanty et al.

Summary: The rational design and development of nanostructured materials with unique structure and superior electrochemical activity are urgently needed for achieving ultra-high energy storage performance. In this study, activated fullerene decorated over zinc cobaltite (A-C-60-ZCO) was synthesized and its performance as a supercapacitor was evaluated. The synthesized nanocomposite exhibited enhanced specific capacitance and cyclic stability, attributed to the combination of A-C-60 and ZCO. The constructed flexible asymmetric supercapacitor device demonstrated high energy density and excellent cycling performance.

Synthesis of amorphous NiCozVxOy nanosphere as a positive electrode materials via a facile route for asymmetric supercapacitors

Xiang Lv et al.

Summary: Vanadate nanomaterials with unique amorphous phase possess more active sites and isotropic nature, which is in favor of facilitating the diffusion of electrolyte ions into the electrode materials during the charge/discharge process and providing high capacitance for samples. The amorphous NiCozVxOy (NCVO) nanosphere prepared using ethanol as the agent for assembly materials shows attractive electrochemical properties, delivering a high specific capacitance of 1449.3 F/g at 2 A/g and a high energy density of 45 Wh/kg. The NCVO also exhibits excellent rate capability and good capacitance retention of 91.4% after 2000 cycles, making it a potential candidate as energy storage materials for supercapacitors.
