Qi Wang et al.

Summary: MOFs have wide applications in catalysis due to their structural advantages, and researchers can customize them and improve catalytic performance through various strategies. Engineering methods include regulating pore size, encapsulating active species, adjusting morphology, and introducing multiple organic functional groups. Challenges for MOFs as green and sustainable catalysts are also discussed for further low-cost and practical applications.

Electropolymerization of [2 x 2] grid-type cobalt(II) complex with thiophene substituted dihydrazone ligand

Sergiusz Napierala et al.

Summary: A grid-type complex containing dihydrazone ligand with thiophene rings was prepared by oxidative electropolymerization onto ITO electrode to form a purple thin film. The morphology of the polymer film was analyzed by SEM and AFM imaging, showing that the film obtained by electropolymerization method is homogeneous and uniform. The thin film exhibits color transition from purple to blue due to the stepwise reduction of poly-[Co-4(II)(L1-2H)(4)] into poly-[(Co2Co2I)-Co-II(L1-2H)(4)](2-) and poly-[Co-4(I)(L1-2H)(4)](4-). Its electrochromic properties such as long-term stability, coloration efficiency, and switching times have been investigated.

Platinum(II) Metallatriangle: Construction, Coassembly with Polypeptide, and Application in Combined Cancer Photodynamic and Chemotherapy

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: The study successfully fabricated a porphyrin-based 3D organo-Pt(II) metallatriangle and characterized it fully through coordination driven self-assembly. The coassembly of this triangle with an amphiphilic polypeptide could generate singlet oxygen and release Pt drug under a low pH environment, improving the efficiency of cancer therapies.

Chiral Resolution of Spin-Crossover Active Iron(II) [2x2] Grid Complexes

Nithin Suryadevara et al.

Summary: Enantiomerically pure Fe(II) grid complexes were successfully prepared by designing novel chiral ligands, allowing for the fabrication of magneto-chiral molecular devices. The chiral resolution of these complexes enables controlled programmable separation before synthesis. The experimental and calculated CD spectra showed good agreement, confirming the enantiomeric purity of the complexes.

Spectroscopic and In Silico Studies on the Interaction of Substituted Pyrazolo[1,2-a]benzo[1,2,3,4]tetrazine-3-one Derivatives with c-Myc G4-DNA

Simone Mulliri et al.

Summary: This study combined experimental and in silico approaches to investigate the interaction between a series of PBTs derivatives and G-quadruplex DNA. The results showed that two out of the eight compounds induced a slight stabilizing effect on GQ, depending on the nature and position of the substituents. Additionally, Molecular Dynamics simulations at high temperatures were proposed for the first time as a means to verify the stabilizing or destabilizing effect of ligands on the GQ structure.

DNA damage repair: historical perspectives, mechanistic pathways and clinical translation for targeted cancer therapy

Ruixue Huang et al.

Summary: Genomic instability is a characteristic of various cancers, with radiotherapy and chemotherapy in cancer treatment based on this property but also accompanied by adverse effects. Targeted cancer therapy has the potential to suppress cancer cells' DNA damage response by tailoring therapy to individual patients lacking specific DNA damage response functions, which is crucial for the emergence of promising druggable targets in the future.
