Synthesis of?-Amino Cyclobutanones via Formal 1,3-HydroxyMigration Triggered by Formation of?-Imino Rhodium Carbene

Summary: In this study, the formal intramolecular 1,3-OH migration of alpha-iminocarbene was achieved, leading to the formation of a unique zwitterion. Subsequent selective annulation resulted in the synthesis of alpha-amino cyclobutanone. The protocol was characterized by readily available substrates, mild reaction conditions, time-saving procedure, excellent functional group compatibility, and valuable transformations of the products.

Synthesis of Azepane Derivatives via Formal 1,3-Migration of Hydroxy and Acyloxy Groups and Selective Annulation

Summary: Formal 1,3-migration of hydroxy and acyloxy groups initiated by alpha-imino rhodium carbene has been achieved, and the resulting zwitterions undergo selective annulations to efficiently afford azepane derivatives. The migration-annulation protocol, with its time-saving steps and good functional group tolerance, provides an efficient tool for synthesizing seven-membered N-heterocycles. The plausible mechanism is discussed.

They not only catalyze reactions of alkynes, alkenes, and allenes effectively, but also provide divergent reaction pathways over other pi-acid catalysts like Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh, Cu, In, Sc, Hg, Zn, etc. Reviews documenting such examples are sporadic, hindering the further development of this burgeoning field, thus necessitating a unified approach like Divergent Gold Catalysis (DGC) to consolidate reports and pave the way for advancement.

Access to (Z)-β-Substituted Enamides from N1-H-1,2,3-Triazoles

This strategy not only provides a new method for ring-opening of N1-H-1,2,3-triazoles under nonmetal catalysis and mild conditions, but also offers a useful approach to access versatile (Z)-beta-substituted enamides as synthetic precursors.

Branch selectivity was exclusively observed in terminal alkenes, with a possible reaction mechanism involving in situ generated pi-allyl and metal-nitrene intermediates proposed based on detailed mechanistic investigation.
