The electrical conductivity of solution-processed nanosheet networks

Adam C. Kelly et al.

Summary: This review highlights the potential of solution-processed networks of 2D nanosheets for applications in printed electronics, and emphasizes the significant role of inter-sheet junctions in determining the electrical characteristics of these networks. The study reveals that the morphology of the network heavily influences the properties of the inter-sheet junctions, which in turn control the electrical performance of the network.

Highly Conductive Networks of Silver Nanosheets

Adam G. Kelly et al.

Summary: This study describes a dispersion of silver nanosheets that can be printed into highly conductive networks. Using a commercial thermal inkjet printer, highly conductive silver nanosheet patterns can be printed, which can form electromagnetic interference shields with record shielding effectiveness. Additionally, high resolution patterns with high conductivity can be printed using an aerosol-jet printer.

On the relationship between morphology and conductivity in nanosheet networks

Sebastian Barwich et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between network morphology and conductivity in 2D nanosheets networks by controllably altering the morphology through a combination of heat and pressure. The increase in network conductivity is linked to an increase in network connectivity and a reduction in junction resistance as the porosity is decreased, leading to significant improvements in conductivity. Conductivity anisotropy changes with porosity, with a potential decrease from 3000 at low porosity to 1 at high porosity.

A Current-Voltage Model for Double Schottky Barrier Devices

Alessandro Grillo et al.

Summary: Schottky barriers are formed at semiconductor/metal contacts and have a significant impact on the electrical behavior of semiconductor devices. A new equation has been proposed to describe the current-voltage characteristics of two-terminal semiconductor devices with Schottky contacts, which can be used to estimate the SB height and ideality factor. The model has been successfully applied to reproduce experimental current-voltage characteristics of nanostructured materials like ultrathin molybdenum disulfide and tungsten diselenide nanosheets.

Revealing Charge Carrier Mobility and Defect Densities in Metal Halide Perovskites via Space-Charge-Limited Current Measurements

Vincent M. Le Corre et al.

Summary: Space-charge-limited current (SCLC) measurements are widely used to study charge carrier mobility and trap density in semiconductors, but their application to metal halide perovskites is complicated by the mixed ionic and electronic nature of these materials. The presence of mobile ions strongly affects the measurements, requiring a refined analysis and interpretation of SCLC. Pulsed SCLC, combined with drift-diffusion simulations, offers a reliable method for simultaneously extracting mobility, trap, and ion densities in perovskite semiconductors.

The Role of Additives in Suppressing the Degradation of Liquid-Exfoliated WS2 Monolayers

Leonhard Karger et al.

Summary: The degradation kinetics of WS2 nanosheet ensembles in the liquid phase were investigated, revealing that thermal degradation is slower and requires higher activation energy than photoinduced degradation. It was observed that using SC as a surfactant can sufficiently suppress photoinduced degradation, while chemical passivation achieved through the addition of cysteine can prevent degradation by coordinating to defects on the nanosheets and stabilizing oxides on the surface.

Integrating van der Waals materials on paper substrates for electrical and optical applications

Wenliang Zhang et al.

Summary: The use of paper as a substrate for van der Waals (vdW) materials-based devices offers a promising alternative to silicon substrates in applications requiring low-cost electronic components. By fabricating films of various vdW materials on paper, it has been demonstrated that this technique shows great potential for producing electronic devices with high optical quality and exceptionally low electrical resistivity.

High performance photoresponsivity and high frequency of phosphorene/metal heterojunction as Schottky photodiode rectifier

Mansoor Farbod et al.

Summary: Black phosphorus few layers were synthesized using liquid exfoliation method, and highly sensitive Schottky photodiodes were fabricated by changing the work function of the electrodes. The optical properties, including photoresponsivity and external quantum efficiency, were measured by exposing the devices to different colors of light. The highest operation frequency for the device reached 1.197 MHz, which is the highest reported value for phosphorene-based Schottky diodes with asymmetric electrodes so far.
