Influence of the extent of hydrophobicity on water organization and dynamics on 2D graphene oxide surfaces

M. Rajasekaran et al.

Summary: The influence of hydrophobicity on water adsorption on GO surfaces was investigated and its implications on proton transport characteristics were discussed. Results showed that hydrophilic GO surface promotes the formation of a fully formed contact water layer hydrogen-bonded with functional groups, leading to maximum proton conductivity at a certain humidity range.

Abnormal Dielectric Constant of Nanoconfined Water between Graphene Layers in the Presence of Salt

Hossein Jalali et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of sodium chloride dissolution on the dielectric properties of nanoconfined water between graphene layers using molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the out-of-plane dielectric constant of water increases with higher salt concentrations, while the in-plane dielectric constant decreases non-linearly. Interestingly, an abnormal increase in the in-plane dielectric constant is observed for channels with specific heights, possibly linked to the formation of a 2D-ice-like structure.

Influence of hydrated protons on temperature and humidity responsiveness of silk fibroin hydrogel ionotronics

Shuo Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that hydrated protons play a key role in the conductive mechanism of SFHIs, affecting their temperature and humidity responses; the temperature response follows the rate of proton rearrangement reaction, while the humidity response follows percolation theory; a combined model was developed to decouple the experimental responses of SFHIs during synchronized temperature and humidity variations.
