High-Performance Ultraviolet Organic Light-Emitting Diode Enabled by High-Lying Reverse Intersystem Crossing

Han Zhang et al.

Summary: A high-quality UV emitter with hybridized local and charge-transfer excited state, 2BuCz-CNCz, is reported and applied in UV OLEDs. It features low-lying locally excited emissive state and high-lying reverse intersystem crossing process, balancing color purity and exciton utilization in UV OLED. The OLED based on 2BuCz-CNCz exhibits ideal narrowband UV electroluminescent and record-high maximum external quantum efficiency with small efficiency roll-off.

The role of excited-state character, structural relaxation, and symmetry breaking in enabling delayed fluorescence activity in push-pull chromophores

Patrick Kimber et al.

Summary: This study provides a detailed analysis of the excited states of four closely related donor-pi-acceptor-pi-donor systems, revealing dramatic changes in excited state energies and wavefunctions when using different density functionals for calculations. The research highlights the intricate differences between singlet and triplet excited state wavefunctions and the challenges in accurately describing them.

Color tuning of di-boron derived TADF emitters: molecular design and property prediction

Jiaqi Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates a class of thermally activated delayed fluorescence molecules with electron-deficient diboron-derived units using quantum chemical calculations. Modification of the electron acceptor and extension of the pi-conjugation were found to effectively tune the fluorescence emission color. Detailed analysis of the reverse intersystem crossing and radiative process reveals the TADF mechanism.

Hybridized local and charge-transfer excited state fluorophores enabling organic light-emitting diodes with record high efficiencies close to 20%

Tiantian Liu et al.

Summary: By modulating electron donors and introducing phenyl rings as pi spacers, three pure organic fluorophores with the hybridized local and charge-transfer excited state feature were developed for OLED fabrication. Among them, BPTCz showed a solid-state fluorescence efficiency over 90%, exhibiting outstanding color rendering and high brightness.
