Theoretical study on excited state intramolecular proton transfer mechanism of thiazole complex in different kinds of solvents

Xiumin Liu et al.

Summary: The excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) processes of BTHMB in four solvents were studied using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TDDFT). The results showed that the strength of hydrogen bonds and the degree of charge transfer in the excited state decreased as the solvent dielectric constant decreased. The ESIPT process of BTHMB was affected by the solvent polarity and became more difficult to occur as the solvent dielectric constant decreased.

Modeling of vibronic structure of absorption spectrum of 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole

Yevgen Syetov

Summary: The vibronic structure of the absorption spectrum for 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole is modeled, showing an excited state intramolecular proton transfer. The study finds that the long-range corrected density functional omega B97X-D3 provides good correspondence to the measured spectrum, but overestimates the energy of the absorption band by about 0.37 eV. Various approximations for describing the molecule's potential energy surface in the excited state within the harmonic approximation are discussed.

Solid-State Fluorophores with Combined Excited-State Intramolecular Proton Transfer-Aggregation-Induced Emission as Efficient Emitters for Electroluminescent Devices

Jakkapan Kumsampao et al.

Summary: This study reports a series of ESIPT-AIE solid-state fluorophores as self-absorption-free emitters for electroluminescent devices. These fluorophores enhance their emission in the solid-state by introducing AIE-active fluorogenic groups and hole-transporting moieties. The ESIPT, AIE, and photophysical properties are investigated experimentally and theoretically. All molecules exhibit ESIPT and AIE characteristics and display intense sky-blue/green emissions in the solid-state. These ESIPT-AIE fluorophores demonstrate high thermal and electrochemical stabilities and are successfully utilized in OLEDs.

Exploring of indole derivatives for ESIPT emission: A new ESIPT-based fluorescence skeleton and TD-DFT calculations

Serdal Kaya et al.

Summary: This study synthesized six different indole derivatives using appropriate methods and investigated their ESIPT emission capacities and mechanisms. The presence of a 1,2-dicarbonyl group at the C-2 position in the indole derivative was found to induce ESIPT emission. Experimental results also showed differences in ESIPT behavior in different solvents.

Warinthon Chansen et al.

Summary: This study theoretically explored the excited-state intermolecular proton transfer mechanism of 2,7-diazaindole with water wires containing one or two shells. It found that the multiple proton transfer through the first hydration shell is the easiest process to occur with the lowest barrier and a highly exothermic reaction.
