The Potato of the Future: Opportunities and Challenges in Sustainable Agri-food Systems

Comparison of Aeroponics and Conventional Potato Mini Tuber Production Systems at Different Plant Densities

Summary: This study compared the mini tuber production performances of three potato cultivars under conventional and aeroponics systems at different planting densities. It was found that planting density significantly affected tuber yield and size in both systems, with lower planting densities resulting in higher tuber numbers per plant but smaller tubers. Additionally, in the aeroponics system, tuber yield per plant was generally higher than in the conventional system, with overall higher tuber yield per unit area.
