Current clinical practice in the screening and diagnosis of spatial neglect post-stroke: Findings from a multidisciplinary international survey

Matthew Checketts et al.

Summary: Spatial neglect has significant impact on quality of life after stroke, and this study examined the usage of neglect tests by different professionals in various countries. The results showed inter-professional differences but less variation between countries, with professionals mainly reporting clinical autonomy in their choices. This study highlights the need for a combined approach to screening and further training in order to reach consensus on screening and diagnostic measures.

Prism adaptation treatment to address spatial neglect in an intensive rehabilitation program: A randomized pilot and feasibility trial

Tomas Vilimovsky et al.

Summary: The study compared Prism Adaptation Treatment (PAT) with Sham intervention in an inpatient rehabilitation setting and found that PAT did not show significant efficacy in reducing spatial neglect (SN) symptoms compared to the Sham treatment within a highly intensive rehabilitation program. Further large-scale investigations are needed to explore the mechanisms behind PAT and Sham interventions for refining or creating new treatments.

Behavioral Assessment of Unilateral Spatial Neglect with the Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS) Using the Kessler Foundation Neglect Assessment Process (KF-NAP) in Patients with Subacute Stroke during Rehabilitation in Japan

Summary: The study demonstrates that the KF-NAP is a reliable and effective tool for assessing neglect in subacute stroke patients. In comparison to the CBS, the KF-NAP shows better consistency in its subscales and moderate correlation with BIT and FIM.
