Nonlocality under uncertainty-disturbance relations and self-duality

Summary: In this study, we explore the interplay between uncertainty, disturbance, nonlocality, and self-duality within the framework of generalized probabilistic theories (GPTs). By introducing an operational uncertainty-disturbance relation, we reveal the discrepancies in uncertainty and disturbance exhibited by GPTs in a single measurement. This relation is then applied to Bell's scenarios, resulting in upper bounds for the basic Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt and Leggett-Garg inequalities. Our findings show that self-duality, despite being considered a pillar of quantum theory, is insufficient to explain quantum violations. These insights may contribute to a universal understanding of these fundamental properties in GPTs.

Coherence as uncertainty

Summary: The coherence of a quantum state is often quantified by distance-like quantities, with a particularly convenient measure based on the Hilbert-Schmidt distance. Despite not being a coherence monotone in conventional frameworks, this measure can be linked to uncertainty, specifically quantified by the variance of the state in the incoherent basis. Viewing the state as an observable and the incoherent basis as an ensemble of states allows for a natural decomposition of coherence into components along the incoherent basis. Furthermore, alternative interpretations of coherence in terms of Tsallis 2-entropy suggest a relationship between coherence and quantum uncertainty.

Detecting and estimating coherence based on coherence witnesses

Summary: This study introduces feasible methods to detect and estimate coherence in quantum states, by constructing coherence witnesses and comparing their strength. Two typical coherence witnesses are proposed and used to estimate the robustness of coherence measures. The comparison between different coherence witnesses shows the effectiveness of the method introduced in this study. Additionally, an application of coherence in quantum metrology task is presented, demonstrating the practical use of coherence in estimating unknown parameters.
