Comprehensive review on the application of inorganic and organic photovoltaics as greenhouse shading materials

Li Lu et al.

Summary: Agrivoltaic greenhouse is a creative integration between agriculture and Photovoltaic infrastructures to address land use competition between solar PV and agriculture. By selecting suitable materials, the PV shading layer can reduce excess solar heat stress on plants and improve the microclimate and plant growth in the greenhouse. Studies from the last ten years show that OPV materials with strong NIR absorption and strong visible light transmittance are considered ideal for greenhouse shading.

Zhihui Zhang et al.

Summary: A CA-Eu(III) complex was synthesized through coordination reaction of cellulose acetate (CA) and Eu3+, which was further doped with Tb(III) to enhance Eu3+ luminescence and functionalize the CA film. The best fluorescence performance was achieved at a CA: Eu3+ ratio of 3:1 with a reaction time of 65 min. The light conversion film showed high transparency, tensile strength, and flexibility, converting harmful UV light to beneficial red light for photosynthesis in plants.

Light Quality Affects Water Use of Sweet Basil by Changing Its Stomatal Development

Sungeun Lim et al.

Summary: Different light qualities, including red, green, and blue light, affect evapotranspiration and stomatal responses in sweet basil plants. Blue LED light resulted in higher photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance compared to red LED light. Stomatal density was found to be correlated with blue light intensity and the combined intensity of green and blue light. Green light was considered to promote stomatal development in plants together with blue light.
