The BEST framework for the search for the QCD critical point and the chiral magnetic effect

Xin An et al.

Summary: The BEST Collaboration was formed to provide a theoretical framework for analyzing data from the Beam Energy Scan program at RHIC, with the goal of searching for a QCD critical point and manifestations of the chiral magnetic effect. Progress has been made in studying the equation of state, initial state models, hydrodynamic framework, freezeout prescriptions, and hadronic transport models over the past five years, with the challenge of integrating these components into a complete analysis framework.

Magnetism of QCD matter and the pion mass from tensor-type spin polarization and the anomalous magnetic moment of quarks

Fan Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the magnetism of QCD matter and pion mass under magnetic fields, taking into account the effects of tensor-type spin polarization (TSP) and the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of quarks. We find that TSP enhances magnetic catalysis and induces diamagnetism in quark matter, while AMM causes magnetic inhibition and inverse magnetic catalysis at finite temperature. The charged pion mass shows nonmonotonic behavior with respect to the magnetic field, in agreement with lattice results. Moreover, we observe a breakdown of the Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation when considering the effects of AMM or TSP.

Effects of the quark anomalous magnetic moment in the chiral symmetry restoration: magnetic catalysis and inverse magnetic catalysis

Ricardo L. S. Farias et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of a constant anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of quarks in the SU(2) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model is investigated. The results show that a sizable AMM leads to a smooth decrease in the pseudocritical temperature and quark condensates for magnetic fields below 0.1 GeV2. Contrary to the predictions in the literature, only a small window for Inverse Magnetic Catalysis (IMC) is found. For lower values of AMM, the pseudocritical temperature increases with the magnetic field, indicating only Magnetic Catalysis (MC). The restoration of chiral symmetry always occurs as a smooth crossover and never undergoes a first order phase transition in our approach.

Thermodynamics of PNJL model at zero temperature in a strong magnetic field

Yuan Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions in a strong magnetic field at zero temperature using the Polyakov Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The study finds that the magnetic field can catalyze the deconfinement phase transition, while its effect on chiral restoration depends on the coupling interaction. The stronger the magnetic field, the larger the possible quarkyonic phase window under the running coupling interaction.

Insignificance of the anomalous magnetic moment of the quarks in presence of chiral imbalance

Nilanjan Chaudhuri et al.

Summary: We incorporate the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of quarks in the framework of PNJL model to study the effects of chiral imbalance in hot and dense magnetised matter. It is found that the overall behavior of the Polyakov loop and the chiral charge density is dominated by the chiral chemical potential, despite the marginal enhancement in the IMC behavior of the quark condensate due to the combined effects of AMM and CCP.

Impacts of inverse magnetic catalysis on screening masses of neutral pions and sigma mesons in hot and magnetized quark matter

Summary: In this study, we investigate the screening masses of neutral pions and sigma mesons in hot and magnetized quark matter using an improved NJL model with a magnetic-field-dependent coupling constant. The results show that the effects of magnetic field on screening masses are consistent with the definition of quark condensate.

Effects of the anomalous magnetic moments of the quarks on the neutral pion properties within a SU(2) Nambu-Jona Lasinio model

R. M. Aguirre

Summary: The properties of neutral pion in quark matter under an external magnetic field, including the effects of anomalous magnetic moments of quarks is studied. The inclusion of anomalous magnetic moments in the NJL model leads to additional magnetic effects, with new divergences in vacuum contributions explicitly depending on the magnetic field. Evaluation of the pion polarization function in RPA using analytic regularization and subtraction scheme has been utilized to handle these divergencies, yielding results for pion mass and coupling constant over various ranges of magnetic intensity and baryonic density.

Thermomagnetic modification of the anomalous magnetic moment of quarks using the NJL model

Snigdha Ghosh et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the effective photon-quark-antiquark vertex function at finite temperature in the presence of an arbitrary external magnetic field using the two-flavor gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The calculations include the magnetic form factor and anomalous magnetic moment of the quarks, considering the temperature and magnetic field dependence of the AMM and constituent mass of the quark. The results show that AMM and constituent quark mass are large in the chiral symmetry broken phase at low temperatures, decreasing rapidly around the pseudo-chiral phase transition, and approaching small values in the symmetry restored phase at high temperatures.

Dilepton production from magnetized quark matter with an anomalous magnetic moment of the quarks using a three-flavor PNJL model

Nilanjan Chaudhuri et al.

Summary: Dilepton production from hot, dense and magnetized quark matter is studied using the three-flavor Polyakov loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model, taking into consideration the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks. The constituent quark mass, heavily dependent on temperature, density, magnetic field and AMM, captures the effect of strong interactions specifically around the chiral and confinement-deconfinement phase transition regions. The analytic structure of the spectral function in the complex energy plane reveals a nontrivial Landau cut, leading to a largely enhanced dilepton production rate in the low invariant mass region.

Effect of the anomalous magnetic moment of quarks on magnetized QCD matter and meson spectra

Kun Xu et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigates the effects of the anomalous magnetic moment of quark on magnetized QCD matter, significantly impacting the properties of magnetized mesons. However, the lattice results of quark matter under magnetic fields cannot be fully explained through including the AMM interaction. The AMM induces inverse magnetic catalysis and modifies the masses of mesons such as neutral pion and rho meson.
