Photoexcitation of 76Ge

R. Schwengner et al.

Summary: The dipole strength of Ge-76 was investigated using bremsstrahlung generated by the electron linear accelerator of high brilliance and high brightness. A total of 210 levels were identified and most of them were assigned spin J = 1. The quasicontinuum of unresolved transitions was included in the analysis of the spectra and branching transition intensities were estimated based on simulations. The derived photon strength function was compared with results from experiments using other reactions.

Microscopic Structure of the Low-Energy Electric Dipole Response of 120Sn

M. Weinert et al.

Summary: The microscopic structure of the low-energy electric dipole response in Sn-120, known as pygmy dipole resonance (PDR), was studied in an experiment by comparing experimental data with a novel theoretical approach. The results demonstrate the importance of understanding the one-particle-one-hole structures of the 1(-) states in the PDR region for reliably predicting PDR properties and its contribution to nucleosynthesis processes.

Low-lying electric and magnetic dipole strengths in 207Pb

T. Shizuma et al.

Summary: The low-lying dipole transitions in Pb-207 were measured using a quasimonochromatic, linearly polarized photon beam. Spins and/or parities of the observed states were determined from the intensity asymmetry of resonantly scattered gamma rays. The electric (E1) and magnetic (M1) dipole strengths were obtained and compared with predictions to investigate photoabsorption cross sections near the neutron separation energy.
