Building 2D/2D CdS/MOLs Heterojunctions for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Wei Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the successful construction of 2D/2D heterojunctions for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution by employing an in situ growth method. The optimized catalyst exhibits excellent performance with significantly higher hydrogen yield compared to traditional catalysts and comparable to state-of-the-art catalysts. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to the intimate 2D/2D interface between P-CdS and Ni-MOLs.

Tailoring Crystal Facets of Metal-Organic Layers to Enhance Photocatalytic Activity for CO2 Reduction

Wei Yang et al.

Summary: Different crystal facets in metal and metal oxide nanocrystals often exhibit varied catalytic performances, whereas this phenomenon is rarely seen in metal-organic frameworks. A nickel metal-organic layer with rich (100) crystal facets demonstrates significantly higher photocatalytic CO2-to-CO activity compared to the one with rich (010) crystal facets and its bulky counterpart, due to synergistic catalysis on the surface enabling more favorable energetics in CO2 reduction.

Motahare Masoumi et al.

Summary: In this study, the interactions of PLGA monomer with CNT and SiO2NT were investigated using density functional theory. The results revealed a chemisorption interaction between PLGA and SiO2NT, while a physisorption interaction was observed between PLGA and CNT. Additionally, molecular dynamics simulations were used to study the mechanical properties of these materials, showing an increase in mechanical properties when PLGA interacts with SiO2NT.

Thio linkage between CdS quantum dots and UiO-66-type MOFs as an effective transfer bridge of charge carriers boosting visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production

Siman Mao et al.

Summary: A new strategy using thiol-laced UiO-66 as a support for anchoring CdS quantum dots has been reported. The thio linkage between UiO-66 and CdS acts as an effective transfer bridge of charge carriers, greatly promoting the interface transfer process of photogenerated electrons and holes, thus enhancing the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance.

Boron doping induced charge transfer switching of a C3N4/ZnO photocatalyst from Z-scheme to type II to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production

Donghyung Kim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the switching of charge transfer mechanism from the Z-scheme to type II through simple boron doping of C3N4/ZnO. The introduction of low-electronegativity boron into C3N4 increased its Fermi level by 0.4 V, leading to a reversed band bending direction at the C3N4/ZnO junction. The resulting type II B-doped C3N4/ZnO showed a stable, drastic increase in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate, approximately 2.9 times higher than undoped C3N4/ZnO.

NH2-MIL-125(Ti) encapsulated with in situ-formed carbon nanodots with up-conversion effect for improving photocatalytic NO removal and H2 evolution

Youzhou He et al.

Summary: The bifunctional photocatalyst CDs@NH2-MIL-125(Ti) exhibits great NO removal and H2 evolution capabilities under visible light irradiation, showing higher efficiency compared to pristine NH2MIL-125(Ti). Characterization using various techniques suggests that the encapsulated CDs enhance visible light utilization and serve as electron receivers to improve photocatalytic performance. Fabricating CDs with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) proves to be an effective strategy for enhancing simultaneous NO elimination and H2 evolution in photocatalysis.
