Long-Term Policy Recommendations for Improving the Efficiency of Heating and Cooling

Krista Laktuka et al.

Summary: This article examines the importance of necessary improvements in the heating and cooling sector in the context of the European Green Deal, using Latvia as a case study. A keyword extraction text analysis method is used to determine the inclusion of heating and cooling efficiency improvement plans in regional and local sustainable development strategies. Results show significant differences in the level of attention given to direct heating and cooling supply aspects and overall efficiency aspects in regional and local strategies.

Ranking EU Climate and Energy Policies

Ieva Pakere et al.

Summary: The EU has ambitious targets to increase energy efficiency and decrease environmental impact through the Green Deal. Despite GDP growth, some countries have not increased greenhouse gas emissions, showing a disconnect between GDP and energy resource usage. However, not all EU member states contribute equally to the overall green policy.
