Encapsulation of Phosphomolybdate Within Metal-Organic Frameworks with Dual Enzyme-like Activities for Colorimetric Detection of H2O2and Ascorbic acid

Deqiang Wang et al.

Summary: Developing artificial enzyme mimetics for the detection of small biomolecules is a current research interest due to the disadvantages of natural enzymes. A bifunctional enzyme-mimetic catalyst encapsulating metal-organic framework and heteropoly acids was designed and synthesized for colorimetric detection of H2O2 and AA, showing lower detection limits and smaller Km values compared to most reported catalysts.

Hammett Relationship in Oxidase-Mimicking Metal-Organic Frameworks Revealed through a Protein-Engineering-Inspired Strategy

Jiangjiexing Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between structure and oxidase-mimicking activity using metal-organic frameworks, demonstrating a linear free energy relationship in MIL-53(Fe) nanozymes with increasing Hammett sigma(m) values leading to higher activity. This Hammett-type structure-activity relationship is also shown to be applicable to a range of substrates, metals, and MOF types, providing insight into catalytic mechanisms and potential for developing high-performance nanomaterials.

Effective and structure-controlled adsorption of tetracycline hydrochloride from aqueous solution by using Fe-based metal-organic frameworks

Zhe Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, three Fe-based MOFs were used as adsorbents to remove TCH, and the adsorption capacity was found to be influenced by their porous properties and open metal sites. Among the MOFs, MIL-101(Fe) with high pore volume, BET surface area and binding energy exhibited excellent TCH adsorption performance. The results provide insights into the surface interactions between MOFs and TCH, which will help in developing efficient MOF-based adsorbents for pollutant removal.

Ratiometric fluorescence sensor based on europium-grafted ZnO quantum dots for visual and colorimetric detection of tetracycline

Wen-Jie Wu et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive, real-time, and on-site visual probe method for tetracycline was developed using europium functionalized ZnO quantum dots as a ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobe. The nanoprobe showed excellent selectivity and rapid response in detecting TC levels, with a detection limit of 4 nM. Additionally, the fluorescence of the nanoprobe transitioned from yellow to red as the TC concentration increased, allowing for naked eye detection and RGB value analysis on a mobile phone APP.
