Preparation of highly conductive metal doped/substituted Li7P2S8Br(1-x)Ix type lithium superionic conductor for all-solid-state lithium battery applications

Rajesh Rajagopal et al.

Summary: In this study, dual-halide-based Li7P2S8X type lithium superionic conductors were prepared by dry ball mill process and achieved high ionic conducting phase through low-temperature heat treatment. The high ionic conductivity value of 6.16 mS cm-1 was obtained for Li7P2S8Br0.25I0.75 solid electrolyte, and further improved to 7.78 mS cm-1 with Sn doping at P-site. The addition of Sn atoms extended crystal lattice parameters and increased Li-ions transport path, proving beneficial for high-performance all-solid-state batteries.

Origin of the Outstanding Performance of Dual Halide Doped Li7P2S8X (X = I, Br) Solid Electrolytes for All-Solid-State Lithium Batteries

Anh Dinh Bui et al.

Summary: In this study, the crystal phase evolution in a halide-doped glassy matrix and the corresponding ionic conductivity variation in dual halide-doped Li7P2S8X (X = I, Br) solid electrolytes were systematically investigated. The results revealed that a metastable Li3PS4 phase similar to Li10GeP2S12 in the halide-doped glassy matrix was responsible for the outstanding performance of the solid electrolytes.

Current Trends in Nanoscale Interfacial Electrode Engineering for Sulfide-Based All-Solid-State Li-Ion Batteries

Mukarram Ali et al.

Summary: The all-solid-state Li-ion batteries (ASSLBs) have attracted attention for energy storage technologies in the past two decades. The sulfide-based solid electrolytes (SSEs) are considered the most promising electrolytes for practical ASSLBs due to their high ionic conductivity and potential for high energy density cells. However, SSEs face challenges such as low electrochemical stability and dendritic growth. This review focuses on nanoscale interfacial engineering for oxide-based cathode materials and Li-metal anodes, discussing recent advancements in complex interfacial coatings and lithiophilic seeding.

Improving the electrochemical performance of cathode composites using different sized solid electrolytes for all solid-state lithium batteries

Rajesh Rajagopal et al.

Summary: In this study, the efficiency of different particle-sized sulfide solid electrolyte-based cathode composites was investigated. Li7P2S8I solid electrolytes with different particle sizes were prepared and their structural details, surface morphologies, and ionic conductivity were analyzed. A LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 (NCM 811) based cathode composite was prepared and its electrochemical performance in all-solid-state lithium batteries was studied. The results showed that sulfide solid electrolytes with mixed particle size exhibited higher specific capacitance and better electrochemical performance.
