Renormalization Group Flows on Line Defects

Gabriel Cuomo et al.

Summary: This article investigates line defects in conformal field theories and reveals that the flow on these defects is irreversible, accompanied by a decreasing entropy function. The generalization of the g theorem to line defects in arbitrary dimensions is demonstrated through a flow between Wilson loops in four dimensions.

Weyl anomalies of four dimensional conformal boundaries and defects

Adam Chalabi et al.

Summary: Motivated by quantum information and classification of quantum field theories, this study examines Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) in spacetime dimension d >= 5 with conformally-invariant spatial boundaries (BCFTs) or 4-dimensional conformal defects (DCFTs). The boundary or defect contributions to the Weyl anomaly are determined using a standard algorithm, and the central charges characterizing the BCFTs or DCFTs are calculated. In addition, several parity-even and parity-odd terms are discovered, and the impact of the parity-even central charges on physical observables are demonstrated.

Defect a-theorem and a-maximization

Yifan Wang

Summary: This paper studies the universal behaviors of a CFT in the presence of defects, proving that the defect a-anomaly must decrease under unitary defect RG flows and deriving the relation between the defect a- and c-anomalies and the U(1)(R) symmetry anomalies. The methods are illustrated with examples and the potential collider bounds on defect anomalies are discussed.

Transverse spin in the light-ray OPE

Cyuan-Han Chang et al.

Summary: We studied the properties of the product of null-integrated local operators on the same null plane in a conformal field theory (CFT). These null-integrated operators transform similarly to primaries in a fictitious (d-2)-dimensional CFT in the directions transverse to the null integrals. We provided a complete description of the operator product expansion (OPE) in these transverse directions, where the terms with low transverse spin correspond to light-ray operators and the terms with higher transverse spin are the primary descendants. These findings are important for describing non-rotationally-symmetric states and computing multi-point energy correlators.

The light-ray OPE and conformal colliders

Murat Kologlu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a nonperturbative, convergent operator product expansion (OPE) for dealing with null-integrated operators on the same null plane in a conformal field theory. The objects in the expansion are light-ray operators, which can be computed using the generalized Lorentzian inversion formula. An application of this is in collider event shapes, where the light-ray OPE provides a nonperturbative expansion for event shapes in celestial blocks.

Conformal bootstrap near the edge

Antonio Antunes

Summary: In this study, a bootstrap program for CFTs near intersecting boundaries was proposed, analyzing the behaviors of correlators and deriving the mathematical expressions for them. By solving the crossing equation, the study achieved successful results in several simple cases, including the free bulk field where Feynman-diagrammatic results by Cardy were recovered.

Boundary conformal invariants and the conformal anomaly in five dimensions

Amin Faraji Astaneh et al.

Summary: This paper presents a detailed analysis of the anomaly in five dimensions, including the discovery of a new conformal invariant. By computing the heat kernel coefficient a(5), the conformal anomaly is determined and the values of all boundary conformal charges are identified.

Two point functions in defect CFTs

Christopher P. Herzog et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a practical tool for investigating two-point correlation functions in defect conformal field theory and provides an alternative method for dealing with complex tensor situations. The paper also includes examples and analyzes constraints arising from conservation and equations of motion.

On analytic bootstrap for interface and boundary CFT

Parijat Dey et al.

Summary: Analytic bootstrap techniques are used to extract CFT data for systems with interfaces or boundaries, constrained further by applying equations of motion to boundary operator expansions. The method is general and illustrated in perturbative Wilson-Fisher theories. Constraints on OPE coefficients for interface CFT in 4 - E dimensions and computations for non-unitary phi(3)-theory in 6 - E dimensions with conformal boundaries/interfaces are presented.
