Nickel oxide nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using aqueous leaf extract from Lemongrass, showing promising antibacterial properties based on physical and biological characterizations.
Nickel Oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) have been synthesized successfully with the aqueous leaf extract from Cymbopogon citratus leaves as a reducing and capping agent for antibacterial applications. Cymbopogon citratus is a tropical plant widely available in South Asian nations commonly known as Lemongrass have used extensively in ancient medicine. Physical and biological characterizations are employed to analyze the synthesized nanoparticles. In accordance with the XRD studies, average size of the particles is 22.8 nm with a cubic and single phase structure have been obtained. Functional groups involving in the synthesis are indexed with FTIR study. Morphological studies revealed the spherical nat-ure of the prepare nanoparticles. Energy Dispersive spectrum also reveals the elemental composition as desired. The synthesized nanoparticles tested in two different bacterial strains. Overall, the biosynthe-sized Nickel oxide nanoparticles exhibit good antibacterial activity in gram positive bacterial strains.Copyright (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
