Boosted methane dry reforming for hydrogen generation on cobalt catalyst with small cerium dosage

Anh Ngoc T. Cao et al.

Summary: The metal-support interface plays a crucial role in the dispersion and catalytic activity of catalysts. This study investigated the effect of cerium on cobalt catalyst supported on gamma-alumina and found that cerium promoted the dispersion and reducibility of cobalt, leading to improved conversion of methane and carbon dioxide.

Development of cobalt catalyst supported on MgO-Ln2O3 (Ln 1/4 La, Nd, Eu) mixed oxide systems for ammonia synthesis

Hubert Ronduda et al.

Summary: The binding of hydrogen with nitrogen in the ammonia molecule has great potential as a method for hydrogen storage. The development of efficient ammonia synthesis catalysts is crucial for this reaction. In this study, a series of MgO-Ln2O3 mixed oxides were used as the support for cobalt catalysts, and the tuning of the support composition led to changes in the catalysts' physicochemical properties. The Co/MgO-Nd2O3 catalyst showed superior activity in the NH3 synthesis reaction, attributed to increased density of medium basic sites and enhanced electron-donating ability.

CO2 Activation over Nanoshaped CeO2 Decorated with Nickel for Low-Temperature Methane Dry Reforming

Kristijan Lorber et al.

Summary: The study found that the different morphologies of CeO2 can influence the activation ability of carbon dioxide during methane dry reforming. CeO2 cubes facilitate the formation of polydentate carbonate species, while CeO2 nanorods and nanospheres favor the formation of mono- and bidentate carbonate species. This plays an important role in product selectivity and surface sites in methane dry reforming reaction.

Dysprosium promotion on Co/Al2O3 catalysts towards enhanced hydrogen generation from methane dry reforming

Anh Ngoc T. Cao et al.

Summary: Dysprosium (Dy) promoted Co/Al2O3 catalysts with different Dy loadings were synthesized and found to enhance the basicity and activity of the catalysts for methane dry reforming. The addition of Dy reduced the crystallite size of Co3O4, resulting in better metal dispersion and higher catalytic performance. The optimal Dy loading was found to be 0.3 wt%, achieving the highest CH4 conversion and H-2 and CO yields.

Tailoring the stability of Ni-Fe/mayenite in methane - Carbon dioxide reforming

Ruifeng Peng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the improvement of dry reforming of methane activity and stability by modifying the metal load of the catalyst and using mayenite as a support material. Introduction of Fe can effectively suppress coking, while mayenite as support enhances the transfer of oxygen species to promote oxidation of carbon species. Through synergistic effects of mayenite support and Fe promotion, high CH4-CO2 conversion and excellent stability can be achieved for the Ni-xFe/Ca12Al14O33 catalysts.

Ceria-modified nickel supported on porous silica as highly active and stable catalyst for dry reforming of methane

Bin Li et al.

Summary: The addition of CeO2 enhances the carbon resistance of nickel-based catalysts for dry reforming of methane, improving catalytic activity and reducing the activation energy of CH4 and CO2, leading to decreased carbon deposition and graphitization. CeO2 hinders the formation of Ni-phyllosilicate species, weakens the interaction between Ni and silica, and prevents nickel sintering, resulting in catalysts with strong anti-sintering ability and carbon resistance.

Gd-Ru Nanoparticles Supported on Zr0.5Ce0.5O2 Nanorods for Dry Methane Reforming

Subhasis Das et al.

Summary: This study investigated the utilization of a robust Ru-based catalyst prepared through hydrothermal synthesis for dry reforming of methane. The addition of an optimal amount of Gd2O3 promoted catalyst stability by leading to smaller Ru particle size and inhibiting coke deposition. Additionally, the promotion with 0.5% Gd2O3 lowered the apparent activation energy of methane conversion and showed preference for methane cracking over Ru atoms and CO2 activation on Gd atoms.

Optimizing the Ni/Cu Ratio in Ni-Cu Nanoparticle Catalysts for Methane Dry Reforming

Kaihang Han et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the synthesis of Ni-Cu alloy nanoparticles for methane dry reforming, showing the impact of Ni/Cu ratio on MDR performance. Addition of a proper quantity of Cu promoted CO2 activation, while excessive Cu formed individual Cu nanoparticles, affecting Ni atoms on the surface and complicating CH4 activation.
