Efficient Visible Light Charging for Rare Earth-Free Persistent Phosphor

Huanxin Yang et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel broadband orange persistent emissive phosphor LiGaO2:1%Mn2+, which supports efficient wide band excitation from UV to green light. The afterglow intensity excited by 470 nm light reaches approximate to 80% of that by UV excitation. The afterglow can be observed on smartphones for more than 48 hours when excited by a common blue lamp (450-460 nm). The mechanism of visible light storage and the color shift in persistent emissive color are discussed.

Site-Selective Occupancy of Mn2+ Enabling Adjustable Red/Near-Infrared Multimode Luminescence in Olivine for Dynamic Anticounterfeiting and Encryption

Jiqiao Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the synthesis of an olivine phosphor, Mg2GeO4:Mn2+, with adjustable red and NIR emissions by doping Mn2+ ions into two different sites in the crystal structure. The red and NIR emissions can be easily controlled by varying the doping content. The study also explores the use of defect traps and ion codoping to achieve persistent luminescence and photostimulated luminescence. The combination of different materials presents a reliable anticounterfeiting and dynamic information encryption technique.
