With the development of active noise control, some residual noise reshaping other than cancelling demands have arisen in fields like active sound quality control and psychoacoustics. Active noise equalizer (ANE) is one of the most popular methods of residual noise reshaping. However, the problem of misequalization, i.e., the sensitivity to secondary path modeling errors, restricts its applications. In this paper, an enhanced ANE (EANE) algorithm is proposed to compensate for the misequalization problem. Firstly, the misequalization phenomenon is analytically investigated. Next, EANE, which can adaptively tune the equalization parameters is proposed according to the analytical results. Multiple-harmonic EANE is also studied. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out, in which the results show that EANE can perform a more accurate residual amplitude control at the reference frequencies than traditional ANE system when there are secondary path modeling errors.
