Coexistence of Canted Antiferromagnetism and Bond Order in ν=0 Graphene

Ankur Das et al.

Summary: Motivated by experiments on graphene in the quantum Hall regime, this study revisits the phase diagram of a single sheet of graphene at charge neutrality and presents the finding of a coexistence region of magnetic and bond orders. This result provides a possible explanation for experimental observations on the quantum Hall effect in graphene.

Strong-Magnetic-Field Magnon Transport in Monolayer Graphene

Haoxin Zhou et al.

Summary: At high magnetic fields, monolayer graphene exhibits competing phases. Recent experiments have observed a special quantum Hall state that is related to the underlying isospin order. However, no direct evidence for this transition has been reported. This study measures the transmission of magnons in monolayer graphene and finds that transmission is controlled by density and restored in the antiferromagnetic regime. Additionally, a hidden phase transition between bulk insulating charge density wave and canted antiferromagnetic phase is directly detected.

Nature of the anomalous 4/13 fractional quantum Hall effect in graphene

Rakesh K. Dora et al.

Summary: Extensive fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) has been observed in graphene-based materials. Some of the observed fractions are anomalous in that FQHE has not been established at these fractions in conventional GaAs systems. One such fraction is 4/13, where incompressibility has recently been reported in graphene. We propose a partonic wave function at 4/13 and show it to be a viable candidate to describe the Coulomb ground state. Using the effective edge theory, we make predictions for experimentally measurable properties of the state.

Theory of competing charge density wave, Kekule, and antiferromagnetically ordered fractional quantum Hall states in graphene aligned with boron nitride

Suraj S. Hegde et al.

Summary: We investigate spin- and valley-symmetry-broken fractional quantum Hall phases and predict a sequence of transitions from a sublattice polarized state to a valley coherent Kekule charge density wave state and further to an antiferromagnetic phase. For filling fractions such as nu = +/- 1/3, we predict a transition from a Laughlin-type state to a two-component Halperin-type state both with a charge density wave order. Moreover, for nu = +/- 1/3,+/- 2/3, we predict a canted Kekule density phase where the spinors of integer and fractionally occupied components have different orientations in the valley Bloch sphere.
