Baicalin prevents LPS-induced activation of TLR4/NF-κB p65 pathway and inflammation in mice via inhibiting the expression of CD14

Ya-jun Fu et al.

Summary: Baicalin attenuates LPS-induced inflammation by inhibiting the TLR4/NF-κBp65 pathway, with CD14 playing a crucial role in this process. Baicalin pretreatment inhibits CD14 expression, leading to the prevention of inflammatory responses.

TRIM22 activates NF-κB signaling in glioblastoma by accelerating the degradation of IκBα

Jianxiong Ji et al.

Summary: TRIM22 has been identified as a potential activator of NF-kappa B signaling in GBM through posttranslational modification of two critical regulators, leading to enhanced cell proliferation. Our study suggests that TRIM22 may serve as a therapeutic target for GBM treatment by modulating NF-kappa B activity.

Utx Regulates the NF-κB Signaling Pathway of Natural Stem Cells to Modulate Macrophage Migration during Spinal Cord Injury

Miao Li et al.

Summary: The conditional knockout of UTX on neural stem cells can significantly reduce macrophage assembly and scar hyperplasia, leading to improved neurological function after spinal cord injury (SCI). Furthermore, UTX in NSCs was found to alter macrophage migration, contributing to enhanced recovery of neurological function post-SCI.

Lactucopicrin Inhibits Cytoplasmic Dynein-Mediated NF-κB Activation in Inflammated Macrophages and Alleviates Atherogenesis in Apolipoprotein E-Deficient Mice

Luanying He et al.

Summary: Lactucopicrin inhibits NF-kappa B activation in inflammed macrophages, reduces atherosclerotic plaque area and macrophage accumulation in mice, and does not affect serum lipid levels. It suggests that dietary supplementation with lactucopicrin is a promising strategy to inhibit atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Cellular mechanisms and recommended drug-based therapeutic options in diabetic cardiomyopathy

Lisa Dannenberg et al.

Summary: Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a common cardiac complication in diabetic patients, characterized by structural and functional changes in the myocardium, leading to a high incidence of heart failure. Current therapeutic options mainly focus on improving the abnormal states of inflammation, apoptosis, reactive oxygen species, and calcium signaling at the cardiomyocyte level.

Resveratrol inhibits macrophage infiltration of pancreatic islets in streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetic mice via attenuation of the CXCL16/NF-κB p65 signaling pathway

Mostafa A. Darwish et al.

Summary: This study found that CXCL16/NF-kappa B p65 signaling pathway is associated with macrophage infiltration to pancreatic islet in T1DM, and that RES successfully improved T1DM by inhibiting this pathway. The results showed significant elevation of CXCL16, NF-kappa B p65 and CD45 in islets of diabetic mice, which was later restored by RES treatment.

Galectin-3, Possible Role in Pathogenesis of Periodontal Diseases and Potential Therapeutic Target

Milica Velickovic et al.

Summary: Periodontal diseases result from imbalance between oral microbial communities and host immune response, with Galectin-3 playing a role in modulating microbial composition and immune homeostasis. Clinical studies have shown increased Galectin-3 expression in periodontal diseases, suggesting potential therapeutic targeting in this field.

Cardiac fibrosis

Nikolaos G. Frangogiannis

Summary: Myocardial fibrosis, characterized by the expansion of cardiac interstitium through deposition of extracellular matrix proteins, is a common pathophysiologic feature in various myocardial conditions. Activated fibroblasts and myofibroblasts play a central role in cardiac fibrosis, producing matrix proteins and triggering fibrogenic signalling cascades in response to stress. Immune cells, vascular cells, and cardiomyocytes can also contribute to fibrosis, while fibrotic changes may disrupt cardiac function and play a role in arrhythmogenesis.
