A PSI targets characterization approach to interpreting surface displacement signals: A case study of the Shanghai metro tunnels

Mengshi Yang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a target characterization approach for multi-epoch InSAR post-processing to efficiently correlate the target's possible deformation types and corresponding characteristics. The approach is demonstrated on the metro network of Shanghai, China, showing its effectiveness in measuring displacements of Earth's surface over time.

MONITORING OF GROUND DEFORMATION ALONG SHENZHEN METRO SYSTEM WITH SENTINEL-1A SAR IMAGERY

Xianing Liao et al.

Summary: The construction of metro systems has helped alleviate traffic congestion due to urban expansion. However, improper construction and operation activities can cause ground deformation and urban hazards. This study conducted a survey of ground stability along the Shenzhen metro system using the InSAR technique, and the results showed that the deformation is mainly caused by reclamation, metro construction, and geological changes.

Effects of groundwater exploitation and recharge on land subsidence and infrastructure settlement patterns in Shanghai

Ming-Guang Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of groundwater exploitation on land subsidence and infrastructure settlement in Shanghai, China, based on long-term measurement data. The subsidence pattern can be roughly divided into three phases, with subsidence funnels possibly occurring. The towers of Nanpu Bridge may experience the main reason for the bridge's differential settlement within the subsidence funnel.

Augmented satellite InSAR for assessing short-term and long-term surface deformation due to shield tunnelling

Kristina J. Reinders et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of satellite InSAR for evaluating surface settlements during shield tunnelling in soft soil areas. Special emphasis is placed on phase ambiguities and the application of InSAR before, during, and after tunnel construction. Results show that InSAR is a valuable source of information for monitoring settlement patterns.

Detecting the Deformation Anomalies Induced by Underground Construction Using Multiplatform MT-InSAR: A Case Study in To Kwa Wan Station, Hong Kong

Songbo Wu et al.

Summary: This article explores deformation induced by underground construction in To Kwa Wan (TKW) station in Hong Kong using an improved MT-InSAR method. Multiplatform SAR datasets are adopted to retrieve comprehensive deformation of ground buildings for stability investigation. Both spatial and temporal variations of ground deformation are revealed, showing significant deformation in vertical and horizontal directions, with maximum deformation around 30 and 40 mm respectively.

Long-term groundwater level changes and land subsidence in Tianjin, China

Da Ha et al.

Summary: A large volume of groundwater is extracted annually in Tianjin Municipality for various uses, leading to land subsidence. Installation of field observation wells has been used to monitor the long-term groundwater level, indicating a decline over the past 50 years due to overexploitation in urban and coastal areas.
