Multi-Thoracolumbar Variations and NR6A1 Gene Polymorphisms Potentially Associated with Body Size and Carcass Traits of Dezhou Donkey

Ziwen Liu et al.

Summary: This study found that there is variation in the number of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae in Dezhou donkeys, and genetic variations in the NR6A1 gene may play an important role in regulating the development of thoracolumbar vertebrae. By analyzing the relationship between seven single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in the NR6A1 gene and body size traits and carcass traits of Dezhou donkey, it was found that different loci are associated with different traits, and the mutation effect is not completely consistent. Furthermore, the study found that seven SNVs in the NR6A1 gene are significantly associated with the TLN, body size, and carcass traits of Dezhou donkey. These findings are important for the study of thoracolumbar vertebrae in Dezhou donkeys and for marker assisted selection in donkey breeding programs.

Whole-genome sequence analysis reveals selection signatures for important economic traits in Xiang pigs

Xiying Wang et al.

Summary: This study used whole-genome resequencing to investigate the genomic characteristics of Xiang pigs in China. Comparative analysis with other pig breeds revealed candidate genes associated with growth and development, disease resistance, reproduction, meat quality, and early sexual maturity. These findings provide insights into the molecular basis of the unique traits of Xiang pigs.

Functional analysis of litter size and number of teats in pigs: From GWAS to post-GWAS

Tania Fernandes Martins et al.

Summary: The study aims to identify candidate genes associated with reproductive traits in pigs and build gene networks to highlight the most promising genes. A systematic review was conducted using GWAS and sequencing data, resulting in the identification of 2077 candidate genes from 14 peer-reviewed articles. The most candidate genes and transcription factors related to litter size and the number of teats were prioritized.

Latent Transforming Growth Factor-β Binding Protein-2 Regulates Lung Fibroblast-to-Myofibroblast Differentiation in Pulmonary Fibrosis via NF-κB Signaling

Menglin Zou et al.

Summary: The elevated expression of LTBP2 plays a critical role in pulmonary fibrosis (PF) and contributes to fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation. Silencing LTBP2 protects against PF and suppresses the differentiation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts. Meanwhile, overexpression of LTBP2 induces this differentiation process even in the absence of TGF beta 1, indicating a potential therapeutic target for PF.

Estimation of Liveweight from Body Measurements through Best Fitted Regression Model in Dezhou Donkey Breed

Zhenwei Zhang et al.

Summary: An analysis of body weight and body size of Dezhou donkey revealed significant positive correlations, with improved prediction accuracy for body weight when more body measurement variables were included. Predicted body weight from the equations showed close resemblance to real body weight, indicating the importance of considering multiple body dimensions in predicting body weight accurately.
